Type of fencing available in Kenya

There are many types of fencing available in Kenya. The choice and indeed the use of the fence is used to determine which type of fence would be the more ideal choice. Security and privacy are some of the factors that are used to determine which type of fencing in Kenya to be used. Furthermore, at Electric Fences Kenya we will advise on the best choice of fencing to be used for your home, farm or commercial area.

The following are some of the most common types of fencing solutions in Kenya

1. Top Wall Electric Fences in Kenya.

A stone perimeter wall is used to support the Top Wall Electric Fence. Top Wall Electric Fences in Kenya are typically 1 meter tall. However, they can be built up to 1.5 or 2 meters tall.
In addition, razor wire (diameters of 450mm, 730mm, or 980mm) is commonly used to enhance security.
As a visual deterrent to crime, electric fencing is your first line of defence. The energizers will fire a non-lethal electrical current, either continuously or in pulses to any intruder touching the fence.
When used in conjunction with one of our intruder alarm systems, your electric fence not only serves as the first line of defence but also as the first point of detection in the event of an intruder.

Being transparent, yet aesthetically pleasing, they also eliminate any cover for thugs.

2. Free standing Electric Fence in Kenya.

A freestanding fence is one that is not attached to a wall. It is supported by poles buried into the ground and serves as both a physical and an electrical barrier. This is most common in farms and games. A free standing electric fence can be installed using treated wooden posts or steel posts. At Electric Fences Kenya, we have the skills to install all types free standing electric fences. We can install either using treated wooden posts or using steel posts.

3. Razor Wire Fences in Kenya

Another most common type of fencing in Kenya is razor wire fencing. These types of fences use either concertina razor wire or flat wrap razor wire to secure your property. Razor wire is available in Kenya in 450mm, 730 and 980 mm diameters. The razor wire can be fitted on top of a stone wall using D10 rebars or square hollow steel tubes. It can also be installed on top of a chain-link fence. A razor-wire fence is capable of scaring intruders from gaining access to your home. Razor wire fences are affordable and are a great security measure for your home in Kenya.

4. Chain Link Fences in Kenya.

A chain-link, commonly known as Diamond Mesh or wire netting, is a galvanized steel wire mesh fence. It’s one of the most common and adaptable types of wire fences in Kenya. The apertures are shaped like a diamond, thanks to the zig-zag wires that are weaved together. Because of its great visibility, cheap maintenance, and convenience of installation, chain link fence is quite popular. At Electric Fences Kenya, we supply and install all types of chain-link fences. The variations include the height of the chain-link, wire diameter and aperture sizes. We also install chain-link fences either using treated wooden posts, steel posts, galvanized steel posts and concrete posts.

Chain Link’s Benefits:

  1. Surveillance systems get a lot of visibility.
  2. Strong and long-lasting for animal confinement, whether domestic or wild.
  3. Common places, such as playgrounds and apartment complexes, should be safe.

Factors affecting electric fence prices and cost in Kenya

Fence height

The height of the fence affects the prices. Generally higher fences become more in price compared to shorter fences. This is basically due to the number of materials in terms of wire and fence bracket size.

Size of the fence

The linear size of the electric fence will determine how much money you will spend on the fence. However, longer fences are charged less at price compared to shorter fences.

Material types

Preferred types of materials can affect the fence cost. In some instances, there is a need to make a special type of brackets to get the best security or suit the architecture. Whilst in some cases certain materials are chosen because of durability.

Site complications

In some instances the installation needs special skills therefore the price may go up. When the terrain is not level one may need to step the fence and this adds to the number of brackets required.

Energizer types, sizes, applications and prices

There are different types and sizes of energizers. We mainly use Nemtek, Stafix and JVA energizer machines in Kenya.

The cost of an energiser for an electric fence differs with size and sometimes manufacturer. All energizers have applications as recommended by the manufacturer.
